WALKING SAFARI

Walking with the Maasai

The wonder of being part of a walking safari is something that not many visitors to Kenya will get the chance to experience.

Leaving early in the morning you will set off with your local, knowledgeable and experienced Maasai guides who will interpret the surroundings, teach you about how the Maasai people live in harmony with their surroundings, and how they use the plants around them as medicine, fuel, and food.

Animal tracks, and other clues are used to help you learn how to identify and track animals. Having lived as part of the area all their lives, the guides keep the guests safe whilst sharing their impressive and thorough knowledge and expertise of animals and birds. A walking safari is an experience that you will never forget.

Incredible Wildlife

Guests at Ilparakuo will be astounded by the stunning scenery and the vast array of wildlife that surrounds this wonderful camp.

Staying at ilparakuo gives you the opportunity of a lifetime to see and photograph an astounding range of wild animals up close. Animals such as – elephants, giraffes, zebras, wildebeest, Thompson gazelles, Grant gazelles, impala, baboons and vervet monkeys. At night, lion and hyenas can be heard calling close by.

Gliding overhead are eagles and vultures, and the Kori Bustard (the world’s largest flying bird) is a regular visitor. The ilparakuo camp staff have years of safari experience and their knowledge is outstanding.

The camp is less than an hour from the Maasai Mara and guests at Ilparakuo are able to visit the reserve to see all that it has to offer without the high costs of staying within it’s grounds. However, the abundance of wildlife in and around the Ilparakuo Ecocamp may persuade visitors that paying to enter the game reserve isn’t even necessary…

Guests can simply sit back and enjoy breakfast on the elevated viewpoint and watch the animals as they pass by.
